The large animal vets at Willunga have a new and exciting program for all of our farm pet owners, both existing and potential!

We have several vets who are very experienced in treating livestock, so in addition to going out and treating animals on the commercial farms and large properties, we are able to come and give a hand to our smaller farm clients.

The ‘Farmed’ pets are typically sheep and goats, cattle, pigs and alpacas.  We understand that in a rural setting clients may be keen to keep these animals, both for small scale production, and as pet animals on the property.  Indeed, grazing animals can be an excellent way of managing pastureland.

The farm pet health program is designed to help guide you through all stages of pet farming.  We can provide information on selecting the best species or breed of animal.  We can also provide husbandry plans to ensure the best maintenance and care for your flock or herd throughout the year.  These may include vaccinations, worming, feeding and all the other requirements an animal may have.

We are currently working on a folder full of information and guides, and will be arranging evening meetings to discuss the program and answer any questions you may have.

Please feel free to contact the surgery if you have any questions or enquiries about keeping farm animals, either if you already do, or even if you are considering keeping stock.  We can offer direct help or point you in the right direction if you have questions regarding legislation.

If you are interested in being involved or would like more information on this great preventative program, either contact us on 08 8556 2075 or email us on
