We recommend de-sexing of all pets unless breeding is desired. This eliminates significant health risks in both males and females.

De-sexing is a day surgery, with most admissions between 8:00am to 8:30am and discharges between 3:00pm to 5:30pm. After a period of observation, usually a few hours, they are ready to go home. You will find your pet will be quiet for the first few days after surgery. A discharge instruction sheet will contain most of the information you need to care for your pet over the next few days.

All surgeries, including de-sexing, require a general anaesthetic and are performed with intravenous fluids and 3-5 days of pain relief post-operatively.

Oxygen and carbon dioxide levels are closely monitored on a capnograph, as well as core body temperature and blood pressure.

Stitches are removed 10 days after surgery and require an appointment with either a Veterinary Nurse or a Veterinarian.
